About us

Masaryk University Press is one of the largest academic publishers in the Czech Republic. We publish over 300 scholarly books and 54 scientific journals annually. While we primarily serve as the publisher of academic outputs from Masaryk University, we also publish works by Czech and international authors not directly affiliated with the university. Our focus is on scientific and professional literature, ranging from strictly academic works to popular science non-fiction. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure professional quality and credibility.

Our mission is to make the university’s research results and scientific findings accessible to the public, to enhance Masaryk University’s prestige within the academic community and society at large, to uphold the quality and credibility of scholarly publishing, and to foster international partnerships – especially among academic publishers.

Masaryk University Press is a service unit of Masaryk University. Our operations are funded primarily through the university’s budget, with a small share of costs covered by the sale of books. The publishing activities of the faculties are funded by the faculties themselves from their own budgets. Masaryk University Press does not charge book processing charges, except for 'turnkey' projects.

We coordinate a wide range of publishing activities across the university

Authors affiliated with Masaryk University submit their manuscripts to editorial boards within their faculties. The publishing plans of individual faculties are subsequently approved by the University Editorial Board. In addition, Munipress prepares its own editorial plan, focusing primarily on non-fiction titles for a broader readership. All books published under the university imprint carry a Masaryk University ISBN and feature the Munipress logo on the title page and back cover.
