JOSEF PROKEŠ
The latest book by the experienced author Josef Prokeš offers a redoubled reading pleasure, as it creatively intertwines literature with writing about literature. The first part of the book consists of ten chapters on literary theory intended for moderately advanced readers. The second part presents a concrete literary work for independent interpretation: Prokeš’s short‑story collection Na sviňu svět (2008). The final, third part demonstrates—through a range of critical responses—how differently individual reviewers perceived the same textual material. Their arguments subtly resonate with the theoretical reflections of the opening section, illuminating points on the far side of the metaphorical tunnel of literary interpretation.
Doc. PhDr. Josef Prokeš, Ph.D. (born 1947) is a university lecturer, writer, theatre dramaturg, and musician. He works at the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University in Brno.
