The 35th Autumn Book Fair took place on 11–12 October 2025 in Havlíčkův Brod, once again transforming the town into a lively meeting place for publishers, authors, and readers. This year’s edition broke attendance records, attracting nearly 15,000 visitors and 160 exhibiting publishers from across the Czech Republic.

The accompanying programme included book signings, discussions, and author readings, featuring dozens of writers and translators. For two days, Havlíčkův Brod became a true literary hub, a space where the book world felt unusually close and personal. The fair’s motto, “A Fight Against Windmills,” aptly reflected the shared determination of authors and publishers to keep literature visible and meaningful in today’s digital age.

For Munipress, participation in the fair has long been a valued tradition. Beyond presenting our newest and most important titles, we especially appreciate the opportunity to meet readers face to face. These encounters allow us to exchange ideas, receive direct feedback, and see how our books resonate beyond the screen. In a time when much of our communication happens through emails and online shops, such personal conversations are a refreshing and essential reminder of why we publish books in the first place.

Once again, the Autumn Book Fair confirmed that the world of books thrives on dialogue – between authors, publishers, and readers – and that this human connection remains at the heart of scholarly and cultural publishing.
