The international significance of his work

Tomáš Krištofóry

The publication contains an international bibliography of the works of Karel Engliš (1880–1961), founder of Masaryk University and a prominent Czech economist whose work was recognized by representatives of the Austrian School such as L. von Mises, F. A. von Hayek, and I. M. Kirzner. During the interwar period, Karel Engliš was one of the most influential figures in European economics. However, after 1948 the communist regime banned him from publishing, lecturing, and participating in international activities, and his books were removed from library collections.

This overview of his works in English, German, French, and other languages, supplemented with references to online resources and secondary literature, provides a valuable foundation for a renewed scholarly engagement with his work and significance. The aim of the publication is to restore international awareness of Engliš’s teleological economics and to facilitate further research into his legacy.
