Svět knihy Praha 2026
Masaryk University and Masaryk University Press cordially invite visitors to the presentation of their latest book publications and an accompanying programme at the Svět knihy festival. You can find us in Křižík Pavilion B, stand KB 504.
The Svět knihy Praha 2026 International Book Fair and Literary Festival will take place from 14 to 17 May at the Prague Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice. Visitors can once again look forward to a rich selection of Czech and international publishers as well as a diverse international festival programme. This year’s dramaturgical concept, inspired by Milan Kundera’s quote “The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting,” focuses on three interconnected themes: Europe, history, and literature as a voice of freedom. A new feature of this year’s edition will also be Svět knihy Plus, a Sunday afternoon programme block connecting literature with other forms of art.

Unknown Short Stories by Arnošt Lustig: Three from Jerusalem
Presentation of a newly published book issued in both Czech and English to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Arnošt Lustig. The volume includes short stories written in 1948–1949, when the author worked as a war correspondent in Israel. The texts portray the lives of ordinary people in both extreme and everyday situations, rendered with Lustig’s characteristic matter‑of‑fact style and without pathos.
The book and the literary legacy of Arnošt Lustig will be presented by his daughter Eva Lustigová, who also wrote the book’s foreword. Excerpts from the texts will be read by actress Barbara Lukešová.
We look forward to meeting you!
