Munipress na veletrhu Svět knihy 2026
The 31st edition of the international book fair and literary festival Svět knihy Praha 2026 took place from 14 to 17 May 2026 at the Exhibition Grounds in Prague’s Holešovice district. Once again, the event was held across all the renovated Křižík Pavilions as well as the pavilion on Bruselská Street. This year’s edition centred on two main themes – Europe and History. The Europe theme showcased works by acclaimed authors as well as emerging voices connected to the continent. The History theme—drawing inspiration from Milan Kundera’s quote, “The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting”—explored the ways historical events are captured, interpreted, and preserved in literature, and how they shape collective memory.
This year’s fair featured a strong international presence and offered a rich programme, including a new addition: the European Square, a space dedicated to literary and social discussions. The event was also rated highly by publishers and attracted exceptional visitor interest, with approximately 65,000 people attending the Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice.
Masaryk University Press presented its latest titles and took part in the accompanying programme. As part of this, it launched Three from Jerusalem, a collection of previously unpublished stories by Arnošt Lustig, released within a special book series commemorating the 100th anniversary of the author’s birth. The publication is part of the multi-genre FestivAL100 organised by the Arnošt Lustig Foundation.
The 32nd edition of Svět knihy Praha will take place from 13 to 16 May 2027. Romania will be the guest of honour, and the event is expected to return to the recently renovated Industrial Palace after several years.
